TECH: Nokia Lumia 620, 820 and 920.

Nokia Lumia 620

Following Nokia's recent trend, the Lumia 620 is colourful - very, very colourful. There are loads of colour options for the back of the phone, but whether you plump for a yellow, red, blue, green or something else altogether you can be sure it'll be bright. You can also easily swap between covers, so if you want you can have a different colour every day of the week, or even change it multiple times a day just to confuse everyone.

Nokia Lumia 620 review

It feels decent enough in the hand, the curved edges of the plastic cover are comfortable to hold and because the cover is both quite solid and easily replaceable there's less fear of dropping it than there is with some other handsets, though the screen is still at risk.

The front of the Nokia Lumia 620 is mostly taken up by the 480 x 800 screen, as you'd expect. At 3.8 inches it's certainly not the biggest we've seen, but it's a decent enough size for a budget handset. It's got a fairly reasonable pixel density of 246 ppi too, which while not as sharp as most high-end handsets is still good enough to produce fairly crisp images. (techradar.com)

Nokia Lumia 820

The Lumia 820 is the Nokia you buy if you can’t get your mits on the Lumia 920: the bigger and more powerful brother. The 4.3-inch Lumia 820 flexes similar muscle to the Lumia 920, with a dual-core 1.5GHz processor and 1GB of RAM, but that’s where the similarity stops.

The 820 has smaller internal storage at 8GB, a less-impressive 8-megapixel camera sans Optical Image Stabilisation and a screen that pales in comparison at just 800×480 with 217 pixels per inch (ppi).

Under the hood, the Lumia 820 can hold a candle to its bigger brother. It’s zippy, pleasant to use and there’s no input lag. It’s running the exact same version of Windows Phone 8 as its more powerful comrade, which is a joy to use.

The battery in the 820 is smaller too at 1650mAh, but you’ll get ample use out of it. With heavy use, we got over a day which is a great achievement for any smartphone these days. (http://www.gizmodo.com.au)

Nokia Lumia 920

Nokia’s flagship phone is a big but handsome beast that’s stuffed to bursting with features. In the current vogue for slimmer, smaller phones, it stands out. There are bigger models out there, like the Samsung Galaxy Note II with its 5.55in display, which makes it more like a small tablet than a big phone. But the Lumia 920 has a 4.5in screen, so it’s a surprise that it weighs 2g more than the Note II.

Never mind, once you’ve got past the size and the weight, the Lumia 920 has a lot going on. The display, for a start, is gorgeous. It’s a higher resolution even than the iPhone’s Retina display, managing 332 pixels per inch. In real terms this means a screen that makes text look as sharp as a printed page. And because this is what Nokia calls a Clear Black Display, it’s exceptionally colourful and vivid, into the bargain. This is a tremendous screen and, since it’s what you’ll be looking at most, this is important.

he Lumia 920’s camera is exceptionally good. At 8.7 megapixels it’s slightly higher resolution than most and the extra 0.7 megapixels seems to make all the difference. It uses something called a floating sensor which means that the phone has greater optical image stabilisation. This in turn means that the shutter can stay open longer. All this results in photos that look very sharp and dramatic, even in low light situations – traditionally the Achilles’ heel for smartphone snappers. (www.independent.co.uk)

NEWS: Philippine's Stephanie Retuya

Filipina Stephanie Retuya placed first-runner up in the first cycle of "Asia's Next Top Model," losing to Thailand's Jessica Amornkuldilok.

The TV competition's finale aired in Singapore last Sunday where three women had to shoot a commercial for Canon and a cover for Harper's Bazaar magazine. It was attended by "Top Model" host and creator Tyra Banks, who also judged the finale.

The other woman in the top three was Kate Ma of Taiwan, who won in several previous challenges.

The 23-year-old Stephanie was considered to be the competition's underdog for being in the bottom two five times. She even did not score a single best photo victory in any episode of the show.

The Laguna native is a part-time model and a full-time mother to a baby girl. She only began modeling nearly a year ago, but had to take a leave when she got pregnant.

She said taking part in the reality TV contest was a dream for her, as said she had not traveled outside the Philippines until she joined "Asia's Next Top Model."

Jessica as the winner gets home with a modelling contract covering UK and Europe with London-based Storm Models, which represents supermodels Kate Moss and Cindy Crawford.

She also gets a cover shoot with Bazaar magazine, a contract to become the face of Canon Ixus 2013 campaign, a cash prize of US$100,000 and a new Subaru XV.

POV: It's Valentine's Day... Wag kang BITTER! :)

1

Print

Being single on Valentine’s Day doesn’t mean that you need to be lonesome for the reason that you don’t have a date. It’s only a day where one expresses so much love for their beloved.. for the one they are happy with through simple or extravagant presents. You may not have that ‘special someone’ this year, but you can still enjoy the day by spending it with your good friends and family.. with those people you believe and feel that they love you and accept you for who you are.

happy

One of my friend told me that Valentine’s Day nowadays become so over-rated. It becomes so commercialized that people willing to spend a lot of money just to satisfy the expectation of their other half, just to satisfy the ‘norm’. Then after Valentine’s Day..what will happen next..? Everyday should be a LOVE day..kung saan lahat tao masaya..lahat positive..

happy1

zxc

Hanggang sa muli! :)
