#TheaterPH - 5 Things I love About Repertory Philippine's The Secret Garden‏ #‎RepPhilsSecretGarden2015‬

Last November 20, Repertory Philippines' The Secret Garden opens at Onstage, Greenbelt 1, Makati City. "The Secret Garden" is a 1991 musical with Tony-award winning book and lyrics by Marsha Norman and music by Lucy Simon, based on the 1911 novel of the same title by Frances Hodgson Burnett. Anton Juan, as always, presented this material in a different way leaving the audience recreate his or her version of The Secret Garden.

I am very much excited after getting an invite from a very good friend, fellow blogger, Dems Angeles. I am sharing you points I love after watching The Secret Garden.

1. Powerful and equally highlighted ensemble

The ensemble was equally highlighted and have magnificent moments just like the main characters. I love the dance numbers, transitions and blockings, given a small space to work out with. The ensemble has a powerful vocal complimenting the main cast.

2. The voice of the kids

Ashlee Factor as Mary and Daniel Drilon as Colin did very well. I saw some magical moments with their angelic voices as they sang songs from the Musical. Filipino talent at its best.

3. Beautifully crafted stage design

The stage design was one of a kind. I saw a lot of paper and rustic elements that gave The Secret Garden more of "the feel". It's like I am transported to aristocratic England while watching the whole show.

4. Music came to life

Since The Secret Garden is a musical, it is right to have an orchestra playing live accompaniment. The music was so relaxing and it seems like it was recorded because you'll not notice any major glitch at all.

5. Visually appetizing through the lights

The magic continues as the stage has been lighted up and transformed from totally gray and colorless set and costumes to colorful magnificent aura. Others say that it was too dark but for me, it was totally perfect.

The Secret Garden will run from November 20 to December 15, 2015. Catch it while it still in the theater.  Ticket prices range from P1000 to P500. Check out Ticketworld or call Repertory Philippines at 843-3570.
